Who we are...
The CC&E began nearly 40 years ago as a non-commercial hobby project of the Thain and Uhrich families of Strasburg. Over the years the project inevitably attracted the attention of like-minded individuals, and thanks to their volunteer efforts, the CC&E now boasts over a mile of mainline track with four trestles, a tunnel, a wye, a loop, two yards, a roundhouse, and a water tank.
Friends of the Comanche Crossing & Eastern Railroad (FCCERR) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that exists primarily to carry on the legacy of the 15" gauge CC&E RR as an educational enterprise dedicated to sharing knowledge of pioneer railroading on Colorado's Eastern plains. Donation and Membership opportunities are available.
what we do...
The CC&E is not open to the public on a regular basis, and does not operate any form of scheduled service.
However, we do offer opportunities for special interest groups and organizations to experience the railroad and learn a little bit of the history and lore of the High Plains.
We also schedule volunteer workdays that give interested persons of all ages an opportunity to participate in construction, maintenance and operation of the railroad. These workdays will be announced through our newsletter, with advance sign-up opportunities provided. They include supervised planned activities and lunch in the picnic grove.
